What the description doesn't tell you
We felt very deceived with this listing. We like to use VRBO because they have a policy to not allow shared space living. This listing is in direct violation of that policy. We were interested in this listing because it looked like a small townhouse on the outskirts of the big city of London which we thought would be perfect. A chance to escape the big city and be able to spread out when we needed it. However, that was not the case. The title is a lovely double bedroom. The description says you will have one bedroom and a shared bath. The pictures show the one bedroom, a living room with a TV and a nice kitchen. The fact is the owners never left. You're restricted to one bedroom. You won't be able use the living room because the owners will be using it. We also chose this place because it offered a washing machine and we knew we'd need to do laundry during our stay in London. Upon arrival we were told we'd have to ask permission to use it. Riccardo was kind during our stay but we constantly felt like we were tip toeing around their schedule as opposed to coming and going as we pleased. So if you use VRBO like we do, to have your own place, DO NOT book this property. Hopefully, Riccardo will move this listing to another platform that allows shared space living.
It is really sad when you receive a review like this one, especially when things are not said to be exact.

I don’t know about VRBO the double room has listed on the HOMEAWAY website where the description says:
“Our lovely and modern house located in a fantastic quiet and safe area in the middle of historic Rotherhithe Ecological Park, 5.2 acre nature area located in the centre of the former Surrey Commercial Dock and just over the Thames river.
Only 2 minutes’ walk from bus stop (381-C10) and 5 minutes’ walk from Rotherhithe Station (Overground) and Canada Water Station (Jubilee Line-Overground) where trains run every 2 minutes to Central London (only 8 minutes on the tube)
We offer a cosy double bedroom for one or two people with overlooks the garden and bathroom (to share) next door, the kitchen and living room are available for use(to share), washing machine and Wifi available, hairdryer and iron.
This space is ideal for anyone visiting London on a budget.”
Please note the underline!
• “A chance to escape the big city and be able to spread out when we needed it. However, that was not the case.”
I don’t know what was the expectation of the guest but probably the don’t know that London covers an area of 1572Kmq and 70Km from the centre.
Our property is 5.4 km from Central London and you can geti t in 8 minute by tube if you don’t eant use busses or Overground available at 2 minute walk only.
• The title is a lovely double bedroom.”
We never had complain about the room, indeed only compliments and great review.
• “The description says you will have one bedroom and a shared bath. The pictures show the one bedroom, a living room with a TV and a nice kitchen.”
This is true. It is what we offer!
• “The fact is the owners never left. You're restricted to one bedroom. You won't be able use the living room because the owners will be using it.”
This is not true, or partially right! We live in the house and we use the comunal space as usual: eat on the table or enjoy watching TV on sofa. We never refuse the guests (T,G.) to enjoy the living room or the sofa or any other space of the house; probably the guests (T.G.) forgot that all the area of the house are in sharing apart the double room and they don’t like socialise with other people.
• “We also chose this place because it offered a washing machine and we knew we'd need to do laundry during our stay in London. Upon arrival we were told we'd have to ask permission to use it.”
The washing machine as al the other facility mentioned on list are available all the time for the guest and when the guests(T.G.) use the words ASK PERMISSION TO USE IT it’s a lie! We posted in the room a WELCOME POSTER where i salso specified:
Please feel free to use the kitchen anytime you need as like fridge, washing machine, iron, etc.
You can enjoy the living room, dinner table and Satellite TV.
Please ask to Riccardo or Stefano if you need to use the printer.
The fire extinguisher and First aid kit are located in the kitchen.
In the toilet you can find soap, shampoo, hair dryer…

This is the first time that I receive a comment like that about me all our guest said that I am polite and welcoming. I can't manage their feelings if they don't feel like convivial.
• “So if you use VRBO like we do, to have your own place, DO NOT book this property.”
I would say, if you want your own place check the description before your booking and read well the T&C especially when the description says TO SHARE or SHARING.
Riccardo will continue to give future guests the opportunity to enjoy the lovely double room as countless guests in the past have done
The walk up from Canada Water along the canal was pleasant and Stave Hill near by is a great spot on a sunny day.
Great Room, Great Neighbourhood
This is a nice room on the upper floor of a very nice apartment. It's about three blocks from the bus line in a pretty, neat neighbourhood. Riccardo was a very friendly and accommodating host.
Excellent location. Very accessible to the London area. Mr Riccardo and Mr Stephano are very nice people; very polite and friendly. I highly recommend them. Definitely next time I come back; I would like to go and stay there again. Thank you mr Riccardo.
