wonderful for a whole family gathering

A beautiful property which was well presented and clean so you could feel comfortable straight away. There is lots of room, so you can choose to be together or spend time on your own. A short walk away are many take aways and a great wine shop, so it is perfect for a relaxed evening in.

Great property for many reasons!

My Aunt, Uncle, Cousin, his wife, myself and my wife were coming to Ireland for a golf/sightseeing vacation. We needed a house with space and proximity to Dublin and first rate golf. The Sonas house completely filled the bill. We arrived at the airport and were extremely pleased at the proximity to the Dublin airport. A short drive away and easy access. No having to deal with the traffic a major city like Dublin can throw at you. Paul, the owner, met us at the house and gave us an extremely detailed and informative tour of the house and how to access the many things we were there to do (golf, Dublin, etc.). The house is spacious and gives the visitors the option to gather as a group comfortably and also to find quiet, private niches if that is necessary (and it sometimes is when travelling as a group). The accommodations are top notch and the space is very bright and open. This house was built by Paul and all the finishes are high end, including an espresso machine and "American style" refridgerator with filtered water and ice maker. Training into Dublin is simple and you can walk to the train station, although it's a bit of a walk. I believe there is a bus there from right outside the house. The M1 highway is also very close and makes Northern Ireland and golf/sights to the North easily accessible. Malahide and Howth are both easily reached from the house and offer great seaside towns with a variety of dining and entertainment options. We took full adavantage of Portmarnock and Brezzi's wood fired pizza restaurant and O'Dwyers pub and restaurant. The corned beef was like candy and the pub atmosphere welcoming. This is all no more than a 2-3 block walk from the house! Paul is available and very helpful if you need something while there. Dedicated parking inside the gate of the property is there and makes coming and going a breeze. I highly recommend this property for golfers and family trips. Thanks, Paul, for a great experience in the Emerald Isle!

Fantastic Place

On arriving at the Sonas house it was hard to tell how nice the place was when we pulled in the driveway. However, when we walked beyond the gate and into the house it was obvious it was a well-kept updated house with many amenities. I did not meet Paul right away but he left clear instructions how to get in and how to work everything. The house has a lot of room and a big kitchen area. When the coffee maker Paul left had an issue, he made it clear that we should use the extremely nice self-grind maker and in addition went out and bought us a bag of beans for our own use. Totally not necessary but quite the gesture as many of our days were early departures to get to golf. He was great to chat with and has great ideas on restaurants, golf and places to go. As nothing is always perfect, Paul asked me to give an honest review with the good and the bad with any improvements he could possibly make. The biggest one, and not really that big of deal mind you, was the use of the dryer. When we figured it out it was not very difficult but basic instructions to dump the water from the bottom would've helped us as dryers are a little different in Ireland. The sofa and love seat looked like they may have had a little water damage but really nothing major and nothing that would prevent anyone using them. That was about it for negatives. Everything else was fantastic and you can tell Paul takes great pride in making sure the customer is very happy! He's definitely someone I would trust to rent from again! Thanks Paul! Hope we meet again in the future!

Great holiday house close to Dublin

We stayed at Sonas House in Portmarnock with two other couples in June. The location was fabulous for sight seeing as there was a bus stop right across the street and also a train station within a 20 minute walk, but the bus was far more convenient. Portmarnock was a small seaside village with a few little shops and restaurants. The larger town of Malahide is a short bus ride or a 5 km coastal walk on a paved path with amazing views. Malahide is worth a visit for an afternoon or dinner. We enjoyed a visit to the town of Howth also and did a lovely cliff walk along the water. We used the bus to go into Dublin twice and it was an easy 40 minute ride into the city. We were amazed at how helpful the bus drivers and local people were to us in providing information and the best way to get around. A beautiful beach was about a 10-15 minute walk from the house. Beautiful beach with great views.

The house had plenty of space for the 6 of us with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. The living room had plenty of seating to relax and watch TV. The outdoor garden area was nice too but since it rained during our entire visit we didn't use the garden at all.

The owner, Paul, was very quick with email responses and provided us plenty of information regarding the property. Our security deposit was returned very quickly after our departure. We had a situation where my husband left over 500 GBP in a drawer in the bedroom and only realized this once we had left Ireland and were in Scotland. I contacted the housekeeper (Paul was out of the country) and she immediately responded that she had found the money and already notified the owner. When I offered to give the housekeeper a monetary thank you for her honesty, she refused to accept it stating that it was her job. Paul returned our money to us via PayPal. I was very impressed with both Paul and his staff when dealing with them.

Fantastic Stay!

We had the pleasure of staying at Sonas House in September. Paul was wonderful to work with and anytime we needed help with something, he responded

right away. The House is very well kept and has about every amenity you could need. It is very spacious and was ideal for my husband , myself and three sons. The location could not be beat with the train only a short drive away for a quick ride into Dublin.

Perfect!!

Stayed here with eight friends for my 40th birthday!! the house has EVERYTHING you need for a large group to stay away. Paul the owner could not do enough for us before and during the trip. The area is wonderful with a few shops/restaurants and beach walking distance. Malahide is also worth a visit and easy to get to Dublin city. So good we are considering coming back next year for a reunion!!
