Lovely villa well located however please update pics as pool overshadowed
The villa is bright, clean and spacious. The welcome pack was much appreciated as was the filtered water. A fresh loaf of bread was delivered daily free of charge, another nice touch.
It is about 20 minutes downhill walk to town but at least 30 minutes back up the hill and quite steep so we opted to get taxis back, well worth it at 20 lira. However there are quite a few bars and restaurants on the way, some do a full takeaway service geared up for self-catering, we recommend Cafe Vita which is also the nearest.
The gardens and outside space are very nice, However the trees have really grown since the pictures on the website were taken and overhang the lovely pool, leaving it in shade for most of the day (at least in September) meaning the water was a bit too cool for us which is a shame.
There is a large kitchen but it could be better equipped, eg: only a couple of mismatched wine glasses, no tools for the BBQ.
Be aware that the villa management company routinely book taxi transfers for visiters, and you need to make it clear beforehand if you don't want this.
Thank you for your review. Completely take on board your comments about the tree by the pool. As the season progresses the garden does grow quite quickly and the tree just needs cutting back. When we were there in July, the pool didn't have any shadows until around 5pm. It's an easy fix and if you had mentioned it, we would have cut it back for you - apologies if it spoilt your overall experience. We will make sure to keep an eye on it next season. As for the wine glasses - there were so many glasses at the beginning of the season we could have opened our own bar so I can only think that there must have been breakages (which would account for the mismatched ones)! I will definitely ensure these are stocked back up. I'm glad you otherwise enjoyed your stay at the villa and that you liked the personal touches we provide with the welcome pack, filtered water and fresh bread.
Good Holiday destination
We stayed in Villa Katya with our young son for 10 days and overall found the villa very spacious and well kept. The pool and patio area/ grounds were lovely and very well maintained. The owner also provided great assistance in helping us arrange transfers, car hire and was very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.
There are just two factors that prevent me from awarding 5 stars - firstly the villa was described as a 10 minute "gentle stroll" from town. My boyfriend and myself (although I was a few months pregnant) are pretty fit and fast walkers and we timed the walk as more like 20-25 minutes into town, the walk back in the blazing sun up a steep hill with a buggy and a heavy 1 year old was challenging. My mother came for a week of our time there and would certainly have struggled with the walk, therefore we needed to extend the car rental. Not a huge problem, I just feel like this wasn't communicated as clearly as it could have been. The only other thing we struggled with was the air conditioning - despite being advertised as being "fully air-conditioned" once we'd booked we discovered this was only on overnight. In a very hot climate for a baby, it was hard at times to keep him cool during the day, for the price you are paying you would expect to be able to be able to have the air conditioning on for a couple of hours in the midday heat if required.
Other than the couple of points above we had a lovely holiday!
Thank you for your review Caroline. Having the air conditioning on timers has certainly not worked well and we've responded to your feedback by removing them so the air conditioning is now available at all times. I'm sorry you felt the villa wasn't as close to town as I'd described/you'd hoped. It's disappointing to hear that you felt it was further from town than you'd expected but I'm confident that it's far closer (and an easier walk) than many of the villas that are further from town and higher up the hill in Kalkan. Again, thank you for your feedback and I hope life with the new baby isn't giving you too many sleepless nights!
Costa Playa /:
