Beautiful setting. High self service for price.
The Kenai lake is a beautiful setting. The cabin is quaint, but beware of all the details before booking. Yes, it is a dry cabin with no service, running water (outhouse), electricity (wood burning stove to heat the cabin)...this was all clear from the listing. It was not clear on the listing that the amenities (hot tub and sauna) take an extended period of time to prep if you would like to utilize them. The sauna takes 1.5 hours of wood loading/burning to heat up. The hot tub takes 8 hours of wood loading/burning to heat up. Unfortunately this left us unable to utilize them unless we wanted to change our plans to keep a fire going. While I would return to the cabin I do feel it is pretty overpriced for the level of service offered. Upon check out we were instructed to strip bedding, sweep the cabin and restock all the firewood we used during our three night stay (which was two wagons full). While the nightly rate was appropriate, there was a cleaning fee and steep administrative fee which made the price of this self service bare bones cabin a little pricey.
Beautiful, quiet and private
What a great experience to have our own little cabin right on the Kenai lake. The cabin was easily heated with the wood-burning stove not to mention the woodstove on the deck was the best way to spend our evenings! The perfect way to round out a fantastic Alaskan experience!
Exceeded all of my expectations!
I am writing this review now from my office in Miami, wishing I could just move to Alaska and stay at this cabin forever. I never felt so complete, and so free!
The cabin is extremely clean, and has everything you need. And I actually loved the fact that there was no electricity or running water. The propane lights were super charming, and sleeping to the sound of the wood stove was just sensational!
Cabins are super close to Seward (lots of good food and fishing), and to Kenai National Park.
A great location to explore all that the Kenai peninsula has to offer
A great getaway in a beautiful location, located within an hour or two of all that the beautiful Kenai peninsula has to offer. There are 2 coolers, one quite large, to store food that needs to be kept cool. The outdoor shower is very functional, not overly hot, but warm enough to soap up comfortably. We used the sauna almost daily, it was a perfect way to end the day. We couldn’t have had a better place to spend our time in Alaska.
Beautiful lakeside cabin
I had a great time staying at The Cabins at Kenai Lake. I found the cabins to be beautifully created in an amazing location. The sauna was a lot of fun and very relaxing, as was taking the kayaks out on the very still lake. Jan was a great host, very friendly and great to chat with! I would love to stay here again.
We LOVE it!
We love the Chenega Cabin and will return! It’s perfect in every way.
