We had a builders yard for a back garden
We had nothing but problems from day one. No one to greet us on arrival and the keys were left in the door - no staff came to introduce themselves for the entirety of the holiday which lasted 19 days. Water cut, electric cut, then intermittent electric where the fuses would trip out. We would come back from a day out to find we had no electric. There was tape and blue tack holding items up (including pipes under the sink). No air con, and when asked about it we were told to open a window as this was economic. We were also left with a half finished pool and a builders yard for a back garden. Carmen, the owner, stated she has been in hospital and attempted to "help" as much as should could, however instead of giving us solutions, she gave us excuses - the pool was dirty due to the weather, our children may have turned the water off, we had too many things plugged in (even though we were out), she had never advertised a pool (she didn't advertise a builders yard either but that's what we ended up with). Some of the pictures of the house were correct, however the picture of the beach, the pool, the jacuzzi (which apparently was complimentary however we were told we could not use it due to health and safety - the PH tested as extremely acidic) were nothing like what we found. She doesn't actually have a pool yet - it is still a builders yard. We tried to move but unfortunately we couldn't find anywhere else for such a large group at short notice.
When confronted with the issues we were told she would not refund any of our money. And then told us she had her guard monitoring us throughout the holiday - we are a family with young children!
Overall it has been a holiday from Hell, we are all leaving deflated and upset. We will not be back.
We are sorry that Denise and her family didn’t enjoy their stay, but we cannot be held responsible for the problems they experienced: for example, the water supply was interrupted because it had been manually turned off (it consistently happened outside normal working hours and Denise was repeatedly assisted by our guard, immediately after we were notified, who found it closed, when assisting Denise) We have no idea how this happened but it was restored immediately, even though it consistently happened outside normal working hours.
We could have been able to deal with other incidents - such as when they broke different furniture or when the electrical appliances they brought overloaded the supply and caused it to cut out- if we had been contacted directly from day one by using their telephones and direct WhatsApp details provided to them in advance, instead of hearing the complaints through HomeAway.
The Air Conditioner: there are several new portable machines cooling the air, as described on my listing. As it’s a big house we have 4 sinks, so we don’t recognize the one with tapes it’s talking about. The Pictures of everything advertised are taken directly. They are natural and ‘Live’ (not retouched). They not only show the beauty of the home, our privileged location, but also Santo Tomás’ beautiful beaches, it’s famous christaline sea waters.
It is a shame the swimming pool wasn’t completed before their visit, but the house was reserved by them last year, and it was much before we had decided to build the swimming pool, which, it will be fixed and available in a months’s time for future reservations.
The safely isolated extension affected for finishing the swimming pool is only about a 10% of the total property extension available to enjoy (1100 m2) We both notified Denise about this small surface affected beforehand, and also offered Denise and family to enjoy the swimming pool -If- it was finished as a plus, at no extra-costs -even when their reservation was made without it.
A garden pool, Jacuzzi: they were both cleaned and sanitized and Ph-tested in front of them, with Ph-meter.My staff assisted them with this: it was impeccable and 24/7.They waited for them in order to welcoming them home, but Denise’s arrival time wasn’t correct.We left the keys. Under the circumstances, we are disappointed that Denise saw fit to ask for a full refund. If she didn’t like our home why they didn’t leave on the first day? It would all have been less damaging
