Treasure on Crystal River
The house was absolutely perfect. It could not have been better in anyway. The pictures on line do not do the house justice! Spacious rooms that are spread far enough to allow privacy for the occupants of each room with a great family room/dining area. The dock for fishing, the kayaks and morning coffee on the screened porch...need I say more? Truly a treasure, we will definitely stay here again.
Our family enjoyed our stay, there was ample room for 9 if us. We do share the same concern with the downstairs room as others have. It was quite warm and our kids ended sleeping on the couch most of the time because of that. Maybe a small window shaker down there to help? The location was great for scalloping. Going in and out of the cove was tricky as it would get below a foot in depth though. We used a trolling motor to navigate that area and twice had to get out and walk in deep muck to push the boat free. The canal the house sits on was always plenty deep and we had no issues there. Pete the owner was always very responsive with any concerns and addressed them quickly. Other than those concerns we had a nice stay and can't wait to scallop next year!
Thanks for the feedback, we have a large 3 level home, the lowest level has an A/C vent and ceiling fan for plenty of A/C flow. this guest kept the A/C at it's lowest limit in the heat of the summer so it does take time to cool the entire house (including the lower level), the easy solution is to keep the stairway door open to allow better air flow. as far as the navigating the cove, we instructed this guest to stay in the channel (it is tricky if you venture out of the channel)...we may have had an extreme low tide?? this is also why we limit the boat size to 25 feet (my 21 foot Deep V boat has never had an issue navigating the cove)....Pete
Owner should not represent downstairs as a sleeping area as there was one vent in the laundry room that offers little or no cooling. Other then this issue, everything was great with the sleeping accomodations. Air in all other areas of the home was great. We did notice loose dock boards and many spiders on the screen porch. The house was very clean and conveniently located and has lots of character.
It is a surprise to see the comments from this guest, the lower level is the coolest place in the house! Yes it is a sleeping area since we offer three beds in the lower level (this is a three level house). We are not aware of loose dock boards (easy to correct) it would have been nice if this guest would have let us know instead of leaving it in a review. we are on the water so bugs are outside (our pest service does a good job keeping them outside!)..."many spiders" again is news to us but if it is true, we will have them exterminated ASAP! Pete
Can't wait to come back!
We had a great time on the river at the Palm Springs house. We were a group of 7 adults and felt like we had room for more. All questions we would have had were answered ahead of time in a detail email sent by Pete, which was very helpful. We arrived, felt right at home, and had a great weekend scalloping and enjoying the area. We were able to bring our pontoon boat in and get geared up right at the house, which was really nice. We really enjoyed the porch and spent a lot of time viewing nature and relaxing there when we weren't out on the water. We felt like we had everything we needed in the kitchen and we were able to prepare big meals with ease. Bathrooms and Bedrooms were stocked for our stay. We have already recommended the place to other friends and are excited to return!
The house is in a great location with access to kings bay- at low tide the water can get low but we were able to navigate without any major hiccoughs. Downstairs can get a little warm but nothing major. Overall we had a goood time.
