What a gem!
We loved our month long stay at this cozy, charming and tastefully done home right in the heart of Tavira. Unless you want to visit other places, no need at all for a car as you can walk to everything (including the next towns!) but if you have a car, we always found easy parking right out front. So many fantastic restaurants and beautiful sights just outside the front door. We loved the great outdoor patio spaces in this home and it was also very quiet. Do keep in mind that there is no bathroom upstairs with the primary bedroom, but we adjusted quickly and the extra little outdoor “powder room” was perfect when enjoying the patios. Our host Vicky was such a pleasure and super on top of any question. And the sweet Portuguese neighbors on both sides were extra special and made us feel right at home.

We had a great time in Tavira. The apartment was perfect for us and in a great neighborhood with lots of restaurants, bars and shops. Everything we needed was in easy walking distance. We especially liked that we could park for free right in front of the apartment!!

Great stay!
The apartment was excellent in every way. Very comfortable and the location can't be beat. Lots of restaurants, bars and pubs just a short walk away. People very friendly! Free parking on the street right in front of the apartment, really convenient! We will stay there again during a future trip!

Hyggelig leilighet hvor det er flere uteplasser. De to største soverommene med dobbel seng ligger i 2. etg. Bratt og smal trapp ned til 1.etg. hvor badet er, kan være en utfordring.

We are a Portuguese husband and English wife team who frequently visited Portugal for holidays. We chose Tavira to settle and raise our family, as not only was it my husbands birth place, but also one of the most beautiful and family orientated places we had ever visited. The children settled and adjusted to life in Portugal immediately and have all been educated locally. My husband is in construction and I am forever finding him little jobs to do. Our Tavira house project started out as one of these little jobs..

We immediately fell in love with the house. It was in a bad state of repair, but had such great potential and such a unique feel to it. Something that we couldn’t let slip by was the chance to own a part our family culture and heritage and the great opportunity to conserve this for future generations. “Just a lick of paint” is the phrase I remember using to convince my husband to buy. In reality we replaced everything, all that remained was the original outer thick clay and stone walls, designed to keep the property cool in summer and warm in winter, and it’s amazing historical location which can never be taken away. The renovation was a joint family effort and has been described by our family and friends as a true labour of love..

We consider ourselves to be very priviliged to own a part of the Historical Old Town, the perfect central location is an asset that can never be taken away from the house. During renovation we made the decision not to destroy this unique property by converting it into separate apartments as many do, but to keep the original size and structure with it’s unique outdoor spaces, capturing sun & shade all day long..Perfect for accommodating family get together’s and friendly reunions. Renovated to a high standard, constantly maintained and updated with all modern living conditions, yet retaining many original features..charming, beautiful and comfortable. We used locally sourced traditional materials like the handmade clay floor tiles and high wooden ceilings. It is a true representation of the unique atmosphere that Tavira still retains. By keeping it’s unique charm we are hopefully capturing the essence of Tavira and its lovely warm & welcoming locals and it is this, along with it’s great central location, large proportions and amazing outdoor spaces, friendly locals yet lovely and quiet..that makes our home in Tavira a very special place to stay
