I love Prudhomat, small and calm village dominated by the fort of Castelnau, large looking with its red stones, which gives us the feeling of being part of the History, in the time of knights...
We are located in the valley of the Dordogne, with very green lands nearby this majestic river.
Canoe rides down the Dordogne for a half-day is a very accessible from Bretenoux (3km away) by adults and children with different durations. In August, the festival of music of St Céré gives famous shows, concerts or operas right inside the court of the castle of Castelnau, magic evenings...
Bretenoux, which is only 3 kilometers away is a former fortified place which kepts its beautiful market and half-timbered houses in its center place; alleys with arches give this place a wonderfull charm.
St Céré in 8 km is dominated by Tours Saint Laurent, where remained the famous and genious painter-tapestry-maker Jean Lurçat. Visit the permanent exhibition of tapestries and the gardes which dominates the valleys. Down to St Céré, charming city, walk on the place of Mercadial downtown and have an icecream or café.
All the villages of this region are splendidly restored, in their style of origin with very beautiful roofs and stones: Carennac, Loubressac, Autoire are famous and deserve visits ....
A large number of demonstrations welcome you all summer long in all those villages: markets, secondhand trades, parties.
Sites of international fame such as Rocamadour, famous for its pilgrimage in the "black Virgin", and the cave of Padirac (go down the underground river by small boats and contemplate large rooms of stalactites) are quite close. Numerous very affordable restaurants with a generous and delicious kitchen.
