MOOSE Mannor
It was a wonderful stay, beautiful property and more than accommodating. But out of curiosity, why the Moose theam?
- Your Friendly Alaskans
Lack of Disclosure and Description
1. Train noise!! If you want peace and quiet this is not the property for you as the main BNSF RR runs literally THREE streets over from the house, day and night and is particularly busy on Saturday morning! Obviously this has been an issue for other guests as noted in the cabin guest book folder - there are earplugs provided by the owner! This is not disclosed in the VRBO property description.
2. The fireplace was switched off for the summer - or so we were told. It was a particularly cold and wonderful summer morning - we wanted to switch the fireplace on to take the chill out of the air - but it would not work. We texted the property manager for guidance and we were told “I’m glad it gets cool at night that’s your air-conditioning”. Not a particularly pleasant nor considerate response having paid for accommodation for three nights.
3. The cabin has very poor wireless internet service - very slow. Not the end of the earth as there is more to life than WiFi but if you need it for work or something important - it will drive you insane - old style dial up was faster!!
4. Cabin was “ok” in the cleanliness department - dead bugs in the bathtub and around the baseboards.
Thanks!
We at Classy Cabins AZ always want our guests to have an awesome experience, and we are glad this guest was able to stay with us.
We’d like to respond to each point here for the benefit of future guests. Our properties are located in a forested, rural area. At night, it’s very, very quiet. So when the train goes by, you’ll hear it if the windows are open. Now that train goes by not three streets over, but 3 MILES away. We have quite a few people who come to stay because they LIKE the nostalgic sound of train whistles. We mention it in our listings, and the reviews talk about the train frequently. We also know some people are light sleepers, which is why we not only supply earplugs and white noise machines but advertise that we supply these.
On the next point – we do shut off the gas fireplaces during the summer. We don’t want to waste a whole bunch of gas just to run the pilot light all summer long. Cool nights are how we keep the house cool all through warm days.
As to the internet – we warn all guests during the booking process that the cabin is at the very edge of the internet, with enough bandwidth to do email and basic browsing, but not enough for streaming content. We do also ask our guests to let us know immediately if something isn’t working right – we can’t fix it otherwise. It’s entirely possible that resetting the router would have sped things up considerably.
We have a cleaning service that works hard at keeping things clean. We also spray for bugs, since being in the forest, we need to keep them out. So, while we would never say it’s ok to find dead bugs in the house, we are glad the spraying took care of them.
We LOVE making guests happy, and work hard to create a great experience. That experience starts with the first inquiry. In this case, our guest inquired without putting the correct number of guests in the inquiry, and without mentioning their dog. When asked about the guest count, and pet count, this guest seemed upset that we asked, and replied that she should only have to give that information after her questions were answered. One of the first questions was how could we lower our prices, and get rid of the booking fees. So, perhaps we got off on the wrong foot. We would not allow her to take the booking off the VRBO platform which may also have created some tension. She did like the cabin enough to ask about our builder since she is planning to build in the area – we are happy that on balance they enjoyed their stay.
Family Getaway
Perfect place to get away with the family. The kids loved the playset and sleeping in the loft. The adults were happy with all the home comforts.
Moose Manor was great
Cabin was very clean and had a good layout that worked well for our party of 5 (three adults and two teens). My only potential concern was that I didn't know that the water is provided by a cistern (rather than a well or something). I was worried about running out of water during our whole stay, but as it turned out, it was fine. We just didn't use the laundry equipment so we'd have a bit less usage. Williams was a cute town and the cabin was in a nicely quiet neighborhood just outside of town. It was convenient base for our visits to Grand Canyon and Sedona.
Paradise in the Woods
We enjoyed the quiet solitude of the forest and the fragrant smell of the Ponderosa pines. House was very comfortable, (especially the couch) and spacious. Loved the Moose theme! The kitchen set up well for cooking and the outdoor porch was a wonderful place to have a meal, when it was warm enough. However coming from Phoenix the cool weather was a great escape! We used the location as a base to explore the Grand Canyon, which was about an hour and 15 minutes. Tad long but we wanted the comfort of a home and Moose Manor was all of that. I recommend the location!
Moose Manor Trip
The property was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was fully stocked with many pots and pans, but also a lot of basic supplies - paper plates, napkins, ketchup, mustard etc. There was also laundry detergent and plenty of towels! The beds were comfortable - I would recommend this house for a family or large group.
