The apartment is a very livable space in a fantastic location, convenient to Chelsea and subway. There is no heating control in the apartment - it just goes according to the main building plan, and it got way too hot even in a January cold snap - though opening a window made it tolerable. We stayed in the same apartment in July, and the temperature control was fine. The apartment is on the 5th floor, and the elevator is unreliable (door is sticky), so best if you don't have to depend on it. The worst thing about this place is the management. When we arrived for our July stay, the office where we were supposed to pick up the key was deserted for over an hour after the stated opening time. It was also poorly communicated that the balance had to be paid in cash. That problem has improved, but the new problem was that there was only one key in the apartment (we needed two), and it took them four days of multiple messages to return our call. Apparently they were moving offices, so it was just a one-time thing, but it was still extremely inconvenient for us an irresponsible for them. If there was a more serious problem, I don't trust that they would resolve it in a timely fashion.

We stayed in this apartment in Chelsea for one week. It is nicely located, close to subways, restaurants, markets, and the HiLine. There is adequate storage and closet space. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The building is locked and the elevator works (as long as you press the up button to make it go down). The layout of the apartment is very good and the space is adequate. The apartment is clean (except for the shower curtain) but poorly maintained. Many light bulbs were burned out. The kitchen was supplied with 4 very large glasses and minimum plates and silverware. The only paper goods were a single role of toilet paper. There were towels but no soap. The freezer was not usable because it was occupied by a large block of ice. The burners worked but not the oven. When I couldn't get the TV working, I called the office. They answered promptly and walked me through the solution. It is a pain in the "neck" to have to pick up the key at an out of the way location. Next time, I will look for an apartment that someone lives in, instead of a poorly maintained empty rental.
