Please note: since 2016 payment through certain websites (HomeAway, FewoDirekt, Homelidays etc) have started taking service fees on top of card transaction fees off your payment to us for your holiday. You always have the opportunity to pay us directly to save such transaction fees, so in such instances where you have chosen to pay via the third party (which we have no issue with) we will however ask that the holiday rental fee is fully honoured, to cover this additional new expense to ourselves.
Can Louquette lived up to our best expectations. The description was correct in every detail, but the reality was even better! We shared our holiday with old friends from New Zealand, and even if we had never ventured further than the front gate, the property and and the swimming pool in themselves made a perfect place in which to eat, drink and talk, whilst enjoying the surrounding mountains, the wildlife, and the great welcome and hospitality offered by Simon and Ashley. The accommodation was spotless and beautifully furnished and equipped, down to the last detail. The swimming pool was just perfect. A large supply of maps and brochures gave us endless ideas for excursions, both local and further afield. Walks, as all over France, are always clearly marked and well main tained.
We particularly appreciated the genuinely friendly welcome in the nearby village bar and restaurant at Montferrer. Further afield we explored several local towns and villages, and sampled a large number of good restaurants and bars. For amazingly good value and a genuinely local eating experience, the restaurant on the main road at le Tech was hard to beat. A day across the mountains in Spain, wandering round the Sunday market in Camprodon, offered further new perspectives and change of scene. Nearby Gorges de la Fou provides a testing but rewarding climb through a spectacular rocky gorge. Especially recommended is the town of Ceret with very good art galleries, and the nearby Prats de Mollo for its history and a pedestrianised town centre.
Can Llouquette suited us - four reasonably fit adults -perfectly, and we would very happily recommend it to similar people. We felt it might not be so easy for less able-bodied people, or those with very small children. For teenage children, we were not aware of much that would appeal to that age-group. A car is essential for all but the totally sedentary.
The owners gave us impeccable service, they made suggestions for activities, and made us very welcome into their own home and family. We were free to wander through their estate, usually followed by the inquisitive resident donkey! We were particularly impressed by their ecological commitment, care for the environment, and their passion to share their enthusiasm for this beautiful part of France.
We stayed from September 23rd 'til 30th with our newborn baby and our dog. Those were our first holidays since our daughter was born and we can not imagine a better place to spend them. There are lots of activities nearby, trails, places to visit and local food products to enjoy.
Our dog met Blue, Simon's dog, a never-ending source of joy and energy to play with.
During our walks around the house, we were able to discover some of the local fauna and flora, enjoy a meal in a grass field or close to the river, read a book or just having a nap without being disturbed by any noise.
Simon, our host, made us feel definitely welcome; everything was arranged to make us feel like home.
Can Llouquette was all we needed for our summer holiday. The gite was clean, bright and well laid out. The farm is wonderfully quiet, with plenty of space for the children to run about in. The pool was well situated, with a good range of seats and recliners. We had a private terrace which allowed grown ups to read in peace whilst the children explored. The children loved not only the pool, but also exploring, playing in the stream and attempting to stay on the hammocks - I think they mastered it by the end of the week. We were made very welcome by Simon and his family and had a wonderful holiday.
Tucked away from the madding crowd this Mas provides everything you need plus a lot of tranquility. Go there and enjoy the peace of the Pyrenees.
Clean , well kept, friendly helpful owner.
Terrific place for children. Fantastic pool.
Can Llouquette is just a perfect place in the Pyrenees (near Mount Canigou, so close to the French-Spanish border). Really quiet and very private, child friendly (superb swimming pool, a nice stream downhill with hammocks, a football area,…) and green, well equipped gites (good beds, private terrace) and, last but not least, the hospitality of Simon and Ashley is wonderful (very friendly and lots of good hints). Can Llouquette is a little paradise (hmm, in fact not so little). We will definitely come back!
All the best,
Thomas and Soetkin (and the kids)
The place of our dreams. We enjoyed so much the company and the place
