Great property for small family
This was a great little house for a family get away. Be ready for 80+steps (which are great exercise!) getting back up from the boat dock. The neighborhood is nice, kitchen is spacious and well stocked. The twin beds are downstairs on the main level, two queen beds upstairs, which is a little bit of a difficult layout for those with small children. The foosball table is in excellent condition and highly enjoyable! The water is very iron tasting, so be prepared to pack a lot of water or buy several cases at the grocery store up the road. Also remember to check the salt levels in the water softener while there. Great location on the lake, a 10minute or so boat ride to the park. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you!
Very nice lake house
This house has a beautiful view of the lake and the sandy beach makes for easy entry to play in the water. The beds are comfortable and the property was clean on arrival. The stairs to the lake are not too steep and are easy to walk. The water in the house is a bit of an issue with a very strong iron smell in the showers but it would not stop me from renting again.
Great for families
Beach means no sudden drop off in the water, so that's nice if you have young children. We had an issue with the water the first day and had to add two bags of salt to the water softener. The iron in the water had stained our whites orange, but the management company told us that they would refund us for the cost of the "Iron Out" detergent, but it would have been nice if the softener was serviced before our arrival. The cell service is pretty bad there. One day it was fine, the next, not at all (our group had Verizon, TMobile (the worst of them) and Google Fi). The kitchen has ample space and supplies, the dock is in good condition, and we had fun using the supplied kayaks (2). It's also nice that they have a pool in the neighborhood. The dock is pretty shaded this time of year until about 2pm, so if you're looking to sit in the sun, you'll have to use the deck until then. All in all, great time, great location.
Wonderful location and property, but Property Mgmt could do better
Pictures and description on here need to be updated. On-line says king size bed, contract said queen. I emailed prop mgmt to see which it was and also asked if kayaks were there. Emailed back days later that owners remodeled master bedroom and now it's a queen bed. Who remodels to a smaller bed? They never answered the question about the kayak. Once we arrived I emailed them again, because they are not in the office on a Saturday, about some issues when we arrived. They answered the email on Monday but only about one of the items. When we arrived the lake was fairly high, the beach was covered in debris. Some was leaves and branches, which some is to be expected because of storms. However, empty water bottles, Gatorade bottles, cheeto bags, etc., not expected. I cleaned up all the trash that I could. You couldn't even step off the stairs onto the beach because it was nothing but muddy muck. Property manager said (by email) cant send someone Monday because of rain, but will send the next day. Someone came on Wednesday and did add sand to beach and cleaned up debris. Another thing we had asked about in our email was the trash. The welcome binder said trash goes out Tuesday night and you should have at least one empty can for the new renters on Saturday. When we arrived there was only a half can empty. We wanted to know if it was ok to put both cans out on Tuesday. They didn't answer that question but when the person came to clean the beach on Wednesday(after trash was already pickednup) they took the trash cans up to the top of the steep driveway. We drug them back down.
The property itself is very nice inside. The furnishings are comfortable and the views are incredible. Swimming off the dock was refreshing, as well as in the community pool. The pool typically only has a couple people in it. The water in the house is very high in iron. This was mentioned in a prior post. They do have a water conditioner but not doing it's job. In the bathroom on the top level the water pressure is very low and iron count is so high it tastes like your bathing in blood.
We rented with another SML property manager last year that were outstanding. My advice to this owner is switch property managers and work on your water issue. If these things were done, this property would be booked solid.
My apologies for the inconvenience. We did respond to the emails you sent over the weekend on Monday when we returned to the office,, but as we state in the check in info, on our contracts, and in the info in the home, any after hours emergencies should be reported to the phone number listed in all those locations. Unfortunately, we do not get email over the weekend so that did delay the resolution for your group. We did respond as quikly as the weather allowed for the beach.
I did not know the water was an issue, and your group never reported it but I will contact maintenance and get them to take care of adding the salt pellets to the system in the laundry room.
We will gladly jump on any issues we are made aware of, but if the salt in the tanks run out due to high water usage and we are not notified until a week later, by a HomeAway review, then we do not have the opportunity to correct the problem and get you back to enjoying your stay.
I hope your group did get to enjoy the dock, beach, pool, and home.
My husband and I rented this house with my 3 adult daughters. The house was exactly as pictured. Very comfortable furniture and beds well stocked kitchen 3 TVs all with great reception and plenty of room for all 5 of us to sit comfortably and spread out. The only negative was the strong smell of iron in the water. It was not easy to get used to or ignore it. I would rent this house again.....especially in the summer. There is a beautiful dock/pavilion by the water making it excellent for boating and swimming!
Thank you for your stay and taking the time to review us! We're glad you enjoyed the home and it was well represented in the photos.
There is a water treatment tank in the laundry room that does require salt pellets to eliminate the iron smell/taste in the water. We have had this serviced as of Dec 3, 2018 and it has been set to cycle more frequently. We want you and your group to be 100% comfortable at all times so, if you ever experience this kind of issue, please do not hesitate to give us a call at the office during business hours or on the emergency number after hours (both numbers are provided in the check in packet).
It is very simple to "regenerate" the water manually by turning a knob that will immediately correct the iron taste/smell. We also put the info on how to do this int he check in package in case the power goes out and a reset is needed. We are always here to help and most issues can be resolved within a few minutes with a phone call. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you again in the future!
