Three Generation Family Reunion
Five Star All the Way! There were 17 adults to enjoy this lovely
property - LOTS of outside space for grouping and individual
quiet space. Well located for local activities: SCUBA, deep sea
fishing, Xel-Ha., rent car needed. Snorkeling at a minimum because of the seaweed invasion this week. Best local beach bar we have ever
been to: La Buena Vida, down on Half Moon Bay. Chef service available was outstanding as was house staff!
Lowellapalooza at Villa Kukulcan
Had a great time at Kukulcan!! The location was fantastic, access to the reef for snorkeling was better than any other villa on the Bay.
The layout of the Villa is open and spacious. Maria; the maid, and Carlos2; the pool and maintenance guy, were easy to talk to and very personable. Knowing that Edgar was patrolling the grounds at night was comforting to us. Carlos Peche; the Manager, was easy to get a hold of and quick to assist with any needs we had.
I especially appreciated the Owner; Michael McGetrick's, availability, quick response times and professionalism. The photos of the Villa and grounds are absolutely accurate.
All of our crew of 12 were sad to leave and lamented we did not have another week there.
Great property with a great team
Just returned from a week at Casa Kukulcan in February, and had a wonderful time. The house looks exactly like it does in the photos and really does make a dramatic architectural statement.
Amazing wildlife in the area, with multiple Herons (White, Green, and Tiger), as well as Kingfishers, orange orioles, pelicans, frigate birds, etc. We also had our resident iguanas who lived by the pool, as well as a ton of tidal pools to explore. It was great for our 10-year old.
Great access to the reef, with just a short walk across some fairly flat rocks to the shallow water. Unfortunately, we were there during an unusually windy week (port of Akumal was closed every day), so the snorkeling was not ideal with low visibility and strong currents - but thats just luck, and I think the location would be great during calmer weeks. We still enjoyed ourselves on the reef and were able to see some good stuff.
The staff is great, and they were all very responsive. Wonderful to have daily maid service. Make sure to hire one of the local chefs for a few days - great experience. Akumal is a wonderful town, with some great restaurants ( you must try La Buena Vida, La Lunita and La Taverna). Also, make sure to visit the Cenotes...we loved Casa Cenote (get a guide so you can visit some of the less accessible areas). Also, try Tak Be Ha Cenote instead of Dos Ojos......private, quiet and very cool...
Great week - thanks to everyone.
Great house, great location, perfect for large groups
From booking to arrival the owner, Mike, has thought of everything. He provides detailed pictures and video of the home, nearby local spots, shopping, eating and more prior to even booking so that you can feel confident with your house choice.
A group of eight friends rented this home for a week and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Upon arriving, you are greeted with the stunning entry that allows you to see through the home straight out to the ocean, the pictures don't really do that view justice. The home is easiest one of the largest in Akumal and provided ample space for us to all be together both inside and outside and each bedroom has its own bathroom (three bedrooms on the second floor and one on the first). Which was perfect for our group since we are four couples.
The kitchen is well stocked with basics-blender, coffee maker, ample filtered water, salt & pepper, olive oil, sugar, honey, etc. We cooked at home for breakfast and lunch mostly and the store in Akumal has basic items but for a large store you will need to go to Playa del Carmen or Tulum. There are plenty of towels in the bathrooms for swimming and bathing and Maria (housekeeper) is at the house daily and can replenish them as you need more. There is also a washer and dryer on site for your use if needed.
The staff-Carlos the gardener, Maria the housekeeper, and Edgar the security guard were all incredibly sweet, kind, and you barely knew they were there. The owner works with all local staff and the property manager (another Carlos) was very responsive to texts and emails throughout, making any questions we had very easy to resolve.
The home is in a great location. There are ample cenotes very close by, the ruins in Tulum are easy to get to, and there are so many restaurants, taco stands, and more in Akumal (7 minutes from the home) and Tulum if you want something more upscale. Right outside the house you can launch kayaks (provided) or walk in either direction to the Akumal Bay beach where you can swim with turtles or to South Akumal Beach (both white sand beaches, with clear turquoise water). The neighborhood itself is peaceful and quiet and provides an excellent place to relax and enjoy the ocean.
I would highly recommend this home for a large group!
A stunning home and location
I loved the architecture of this home. It's a real jaw dropper. Additionally, if you are looking for a peaceful location, this is it. It is hard to find a place where you will experience so little noise pollution. The sound of the ocean and the birds and critters creates a very relaxing experience. This was a very active trip for us and we feel like we just scratched the surface of visiting all the places we wanted to see. Scuba, snorkeling, cenotes, eating and drinking...it was the perfect vacation. Carlos, Maria and Edgar were delightful people and we appreciated their care. Muchas gracias.
Casa Kukulcan is gorgeous. Perfect for a large group.
We had a fabulous time. The house was perfect for our 15 people. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. Awesome kitchen so all could gather around. The pool was nice and refreshing with a gorgeous view.
The rooftop is something early in the morning for the sunrise and late in evening to just relax and enjoy the breeze. The rain showers in each bathroom made for a special treat after a long day in the sun. The bbq pit was perfect for the few nights we just wanted to cook in.
Carlos 1 did an outstanding job working everything for our group from arranging a nanny to massages to some delicioso snacks. Carlos 2 worked so hard everyday to get outside ready for another day in the sun. He got us some fresh coconuts ready to go also. Ava the maid was great about cleaning up all the dishes. Edgar kept us safe along with providing some fishing insight.
The rocky area there was easy to navigate and get to the water. We did some pretty good snorkeling. The seaweed did make things a bit yucky getting in and out but no reflection on Casa Kukulcan.
Thanks for a great trip!
Thanks so very much for your review. It is very thoughtful and well written. I have asked Carlos to pay out staff bonuses for having received a 5 star review. I hope you used the two adjacent beaches as well.
