Pictures do not do it justice

Terry was an incredibly generous host. She welcomed us into her home which was absolute bliss. The garden setting is peaceful and my daughter absolutely adored the cat, dog, and chickens. We even had fresh eggs and herbs from the farm for breakfast. The spectacular ocean views were mesmerizing. Will definitely come back next time we are in Maui.

Green Paradise

Dear Michael and Terry, Countless words can not express our gratitude to you both. For your gracious hospitality and for sharing this beautiful green space. We will never forget these five peaceful days celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We felt we were the only two people alone in Paradise. After hiking amazing trails each day we slept great every night on the comfy bed with the moon shining, the ocean breeze blowing, blow. The frogs, birds and insects singing and the bamboo thicket rustling. We were cocooned by nature. We would be remiss not to also say thank you for the many delicious fresh eggs, herbs, bananas, cucumbers, peppers, and the meatiest and most delicious tomatoes ever. we loved seeing the chickens, guineas, and Kat and Kit, of course. Your lush gardens were a delight to wander through. Everything is so thoughtfully designed, and the artwork and garden features just added to the unique experience. Loved the framed quote in the study. “learn of the green world what can be thy place.” We truly found a special place here. Thank you for your years of love and labor to grow this paradise. With sincere gratitude, may God bless you both and your families too.

Relaxation in nature with a beautiful view

The cottage gives you a feeling that you have gone back in time where there are no fast paced pressure and worries. In the evening sitting on the front porch with my wife and a bottle wine was so peaceful listening to the birds and rain. The bed was very comfortable and sleeping with the doors open kept the room at a perfect cool temperature. There are all of the amenities you need for cooking, showering and laundry. Watching the sunrise was gorgeous with all of the colors in the clouds. While eating breakfast (with supplied fresh eggs, peppers and coffee with our added meat) on the porch was so beautiful as the light from the sun intensified as it kept rising behind the clouds over the ocean. The colors of the plants around use kept transforming until they were fully exposed showing all of their colors. We heard strange clicking or chirps coming towards us and we watched some Guinea hens go through the yard. There is the added bonus of being able to tour the yard which is a botanical garden with a huge variety of plants and trees to wonder through on the paths. The whole property is off of the grid for water and solar with an added bonus of WIFI so you can look up the types of plants you took pictures of in case you didn't see the markers and to send pictures to your friends to make them jealous of where you were able to stay. This was a great break for our tour of the Hana side of Maui to rejuvenate for the ride back to the west side.

Heaven on Earth

The cottage and grounds are a slice of heaven on earth. The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed and more, and the grounds and view were breathtaking. Terry and Kat made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived, and Kat was a great companion whenever we were outside on the porch. We are so happy that we decided to stay two nights at the cottage to explore Hana and the surrounding area.

Propietario/a: Terry Kristiansen

• Michael Kristiansen, born in South Africa, has a degree in Landscape Architecture, Park Administration, Ornamental Horticulture, and is a Certified Arborist.
Michael is a consultant in landscape management and horticulture, runs workshops in tropical horticulture, pruning, mulching, composting, docent training, and staff training. He is the past Director of the Honolulu Botanical Gardens and a long-time teacher at UCLA Extension in Landscape Architecture, Gardening and Horticulture.
• Terry Kristiansen, manager of Entabeni Cottage, has worked with Michael for the past 53 years of their marriage and shares his love of nature, the tropics, and their 6.25 acre flower farm on Maui.
We share our lives with our two sons and their families, plus one dog, four cats, and a flock of chickens and free range guinea fowl. We grow flowers, fruit and vegetables. We offer fresh eggs and vegetables to our guests.
