We spend an amazing week in Madrid and stayed in this apartment in La Latina. This apartment was perfect. The location was unbelievable - central to most of the downtown locations, walking distance from 2 Metro stations and Plaza Mayor and Mercado St. Miguel. We easily walked to Opera, the Prado, Sol, the Prado, the Museum of Madrid from the apartment (nothing was more than 30 min by foot). It's a quick 10 min/7E uber ride to Atocha (if you do any traveling through Atocha, like Toledo, build in an additional 45 min because the station is pure manic chaos with terrible signage inside telling you how to enter the tracks or even how to exit). There were amazing restaurants everywhere in La Latina- Cava Baja is a street around the corner filled with fun bars and restaurants. Dr. Limon cafe on the ground floor is SO cute for morning coffee or a place to hangout and people watch. There are supermarkets in easy walking distance, and a HUGE mercado, Mercado Cebada, across the street. The apartment itself was so charming, comfortable, and well appointed. It is set up to fit probably 4 adults and a couple of kids (a queen sized bed, a full sized futon, plus the pullout couch that looked like 2 twin beds), but as 2 adults, we were extremely comfortable. The bed was great, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the bathroom was set up nicely (great hot shower water pressure). In April, the apartment was chilly, even when it was sunny and in the low 70sF/20sC outside, which makes me think it's probably very comfortable inside even when it's summer hot outside. We had to turn on the heat every night, which was easy. We were able to easily use the washing machine (there's a drying rack in the closet!). The TV is a Smart one, great if you have a Netflix account; we couldn't find the English channels via cable. The apartment faces the interior of the building complex, so it doesn't get sunlight in the bedroom, making it hard to adjust in the mornings, but there was nice sun streaming into the dining area. The apartment was quiet, the building was clean, with an elevator and Susana was amazing getting us set up as soon as we arrived. She had some water and beverages in the fridge for us, which was so thoughtful. (Madrid tap water, however, is DELICIOUS). Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday in Madrid!!
