AZ to NC family vacation
First of all I want to say we had a wonderful and relaxing time. We were there to see our son who is stationed at Ft. Bragg. Upon arrival we actually drove by it because we didn’t see the cabin for all the overgrowth. The cabin looks nothing like the pictures. All of the trees and shrubs are overgrown. The grounds are dirty and unkept. Cobwebs are all over the porch and furniture, light fixtures, and railings. I understand we are in the woods, but things could still be kept clean. The furniture is peeling of paint, the boards on the porch are popping up making it dangerous for one to walk on the porch. The WiFi password we were given didn’t match the one we found located under the router. Direct TV wasn’t working which wasn’t a big deal but would have been nice to occasionally watch TV. The first morning there, my son tripped on the stones stepping off the back porch and twisted his ankle. The stones were not visible due to the overgrown weeds which caused him to fall. The inside was nice and cozy, but again, we could see dust on the ceilings following the outline of the rafters and cobwebs in corners of ceiling. The beds were comfortable, the furniture was not. There was no usable furniture outside in the yard. The only furniture was a rotting and dilapidated picnic table. The downstairs door off the side of the house did not lock, which was a little unnerving.
Basically, the cabin needs a great deal of cleaning, inside and out, and updating. The pictures are deceiving, the cabin looks nothing like the pics.
Friends get away
The photos on line of this property have not been updated in years. It was so over grown that you cant even see the cabin when you pull in. The grass had not been cut in a few weeks. The out side of the cabin needs alot of TLC. The inside was not bad, but it could use a heavy cleaning. A little mold in all three showers and cobwebs. When we first got to the cabin the cleaning ladies were on their way out and told us not to use the downstairs bath room as the last guest had backed up the toilet. They said they had contacted the owner. Later in the evening the owner called and said he could not get any one out there that night we would have to wait until the next morning. He was informed at that time that it was starting to flood the bathroom and hallway. He did at that point get someone out there. It was an easy fix. Sump pump was unplugged and it was not the toilet. In prior reviews the owner stated there was a water filter installed to stopped the sulfur smell in the water. There maybe a filter but the smell is awful. When you take a shower the whole house smells. All in all it was not bad and the owner was helpful in taking care of the major issue
Sorry for the inconvenience. We tried to get things resolved quickly.
2nd visit and looking forward to the 3rd
Overall we love this place. The house with its spaciousness, the creek with its great fishing, and the property (don’t forget the hot tub!). Very warm and welcoming.
While they do have Wi-Fi, streaming is too slow to watch anything. Bring dvds.
Also, the bed/box spring in the loft needs an upgrade.
Aside from that, it’s a truly lovely place!!!!
We appreciate your input and business. I hope you will come again soon.
The outside of the property is very nice. There was plenty of space for our fur babies to roam and play. We were surprised that there was another home right next door, but the set up of their firepit seemed to keep them well on the opposite side of the property. There was some trash around the yard, but nothing major. The river was wonderful. In warmer weather it would make for a great place for kids to play, with some deeper areas to splash around in. We actually managed to catch a few fish. New deck chairs would be nice. Most of the ones there had holes or no cushions. However, picnic tables around the fire pit were a nice touch. The inside of the house is very spacious. The couches not too comfortable, but we spent most of our time outside. The bed upstairs kept falling off the frame. That was a little annoying to have to keep fixing every night. The owners are really thoughtful in providing linens, soaps, towels (even special ones for the dogs), and a kitchen with plenty of pots and dishes. Although I suggest bringing your own can opener. There were ants in the kitchen, which wasn’t an issue for us. Just keep in mind you need to keep things covered. All in all, we were pleasantly surprised considering some of the negative reviews we had read prior. The river and backyard are really well worth it.
