"La Panadería" (the bakery) is an old colonial-style house recently renovated. It is located in a special enclave, the Barranco de la Cueva Grande. The path "Camino Real" or GR-130 pass by the house, which in this area communicates Tinizara-Tijarafe. This way, the Camino Real, has historical and heritage value, so we are not allowed to make big changes on it, so for about 50 meters one must drive carefully, but not dangerously. Once in the GR down the house, some days, one can feel staying at paradise.
La Panadería is ideal for those seeking a quiet place without noise. It's a heritage building with historical value. The house is isolated from other houses and far enough from the road not to hear the vehicles passing through it. The nights are very quiet and the sky on a clear night is a spectacle of stars.
We offer the wifi service as we think nowadays it is very important, even on holidays, but we have elude TV as something not needed on holidays.
We have a Ping-Pong table that is available to guests upon request. Please if you are going to use it, make sure to keep it indoors for better conservation.
The house is suitable for disabled guests. There is an access ramp to the house from the parking, and inside the house the doors to the rooms are very large, there are no barriers on the floor and the master bathroom is prepared. Also access to the terrace with barbecue is ideal, however, the height of the kitchen furniture is not right for a person in a wheelchair.
The hostess at Tijarafe is Lidia. She escorts guests from the town center to the house, showing them the way. She will also deliver the house keys and some explanations concerning the use of household goods.
If you wish, during your stay, Lidia can make a cleaning with an extra cost of 20 euros per cleaning.
Weather in Tijarafe during the seasons of spring and autumn is close to be perfect. Winter nights can be cold, but the house is equipped with portable electric heaters for bathrooms and bedrooms. And the beds are supplied with feather duvets.
During summer time, the temperature is very nice, except when the "Alisios" winds are absent. In these cases, the double bedroom is the warmest room in the house, so it is equipped with air conditioning to cool the room during evenings, so at night the bedroom is cooler. The other bedroom is different and does not require artificial coolness.
The bedrooms have quality beds and sheets made with 100% Egyptian cotton.
The house is isolated and the neighbors are a few hundred meters. Access by car is by "Camino Real" (GR-130) and it only comes to La Panadería. Also you can go walking to the town center (supermarket, pharmacy, bars) in 20 minutes, take the trail to the left and following the GR marks (long distance footpath, red and white) you'll reach the village.
My husband and me bought La Panadería some years ago and have been rebuilding it to use it as our holiday home. Finally, when the house has been ready, we have decided to rent it to short term stays, mainly to people looking for tranquility and peace in the beautiful island of La Palma.
We would like our guests enjoy La Palma as we usually do during our holidays.
