Upon our arrival at the house it was cool and the sleeping rooms smelled musty. We had 4 blankets, which were all not washed and smelled even more like mould than the beds and the living rooms. One of this blankets even showed blood stains. We asked for replacements and received 2! fresh blankets the next day - we were 3 persons. We therefore washed all blankets at the place by ourselves. The musty mould-smell in the sleeping rooms was milded but stayed.
Several electronic appliances (2 lamps, dish washer, dryer) were not working or not working properly. The thermostat of one of the 3 heaters was torn out with the wiring hanging out - the same wiring hanging out with one power outlet in the wall.
Overall, the place is not in accordance with what the pictures show. It appears jaded and scruffy. The contact to the custodians was good in relation to answering time, but concrete help was missing. After our departure we were lessoned that we had not taken our garbage out and had forgotten to switch off one heater and the light in the kitchen. Apparently the custodian has eyes for that - but obviously not for blood stains on blankets.
We would have liked to talk about all of that with the real OWNER - upon our request, the custodian denied us the information wheather this really was him himself and he did not name any alternative contact.
We have not at all described everything that has happened to us. Should the custodian doubt our statements we will post a link here with voluminous picture-material.
Overall, our résumè is really negative - we paid a lot of money and feel betrayed - our worthy holidays.
What does the greatest view help - if it disgusts you to go to sleep every night?
A property straight out of grand designs with stunning views of the bay and Teide. A warm welcome from the owners.
A very good communication with the owner before the visit and good support from the “landlord” during the visit. Very friendly and service minded. The location in Santa Ursula is suitable if you want to stay away from the bigger tourist resort area and have access to the motorway TF-5 for your trips. If you are sensible for noise the traffic from it could be annoying. The views over the sea, Teide and sun from late morning to evening is fantastic.
Make sure that the pool is tempered and on during the colder periods. The house was excellent cleaned but started to show signs of wear and tear especially in the bathrooms. The bunk bed has seen better days and in mainly for smaller children.
