Historical
The mansion Josep Ferrer i Vidal, called Cal Tineta was built in 1862. The neoclassical architecture was major in that political, social and economic context; the industrial revolution, the illustration and encyclopedic movement, the foundation of the academia, etc.
The house, located in the historic center of the town forms a dimension that recalls the bow of a ship, giving special importance to a noble building. Along with that, the new pioneer spirit of the French Revolution and the new trends brought a romantic conception of ancient Greece. This can be seen in the ornaments and the fresco paintings of the room’s walls and ceilings.
Cal Tineta, century-old family house was refuge in the Spanish civil war and in the late twentieth century served as ballroom and nightclub of Carnival association “La Gresca”, which reformed its dependencies. During all these years and events the original paintings were damaged. One year ago the first floor changed owners and was renovated into the exclusive apartment that you can enjoy. Some of the benefits of this new use will be allocated to the recovery of this unique listed building of the Vilanova i la Geltrú heritage.
