Cute cottage in a beautiful area
We loved staying here. It had everything we needed. We picked it for its location to the Napali Coast.
Cons- tricky to find at check in (tucked behind a rental house, follow the stone path)
Overall highly recommend
What a Delight!
When we return to the island in the future, I will check the Cottage availability first before finalizing travel dates for our vacation. The cottage is so wonderful, beautiful, and delightfully minimalist yet well appointed, that it's being available will determine when we go.
Great little getaway
Such a wonderful stay! Great location! Would definitely do it again - highly recommend
What a wonderful place!
We had a wonderful six nights at the Garden Cottage. We loved the outside shower and how close it was to the beach! It was a very special place to spend our 35th anniversary!!! Thank you!
The cottage couldn't have been more perfect for our honeymoon! It had everything we needed and only a short distance from a beautiful beach. We really enjoyed Tunnels beach, the view was absolutely gorgeous! There was a lot of bridge work happening while we were there but Patricia and the locals were so helpful! I definitely recommend staying the at cottage while you're in Kauai!
North Shore bargain
Best place for the money west of Hanalei on Kauai's North Shore. Patricia is the best property manager anywhere. The owners and especially the guests are fortunate to have her help. Responsive clear answers whenever I texted her. One of the reasons we stayed here was its proximity to Tunnels Beach - one of the best snorkeling sites on Kauai. Be advised that there is a local group calling a large swath of the North Shore (from Na Pail State Park to Wainiha extending out one mile from shore) the Ha'ena Community Based Subsistence Fishing Area (CBSFA). They particularly target Tunnels, calling it Makua Pu'uhonua and the flyer they handed out at Ke'e Beach prohibited "any entry" into this area (Tunnels), labeling it kapu (prohibited). I was called out of the water while snorkeling Tunnels by two young "enforcers" of this policy. (But enforcement does seem spotty.) Patricia, the shuttle driver, and other locals suggested care in the choice of sunscreen, care of resources (don't feed fish or walk on the reef), but did not agree with the "ban" on Tunnels.
The cottage itself packs a great deal of functionality into a small area. The NE trade winds don't always make it back to the cottage. There were three fans in the unit (ceiling, vertical, and smaller unit) which, along with a fan that we brought, helped keep things tolerable most of the time. We were there during a heat wave and the temperature reached 90 in the cottage (we bought a thermometer to see how hot it really was). Anything 83 degrees and lower we found tolerable with fans but in the summer this is a very warm place to hang out between noon and 6:00 p.m. We have stayed at numerous places on Kauai without A/C and this was the first time we really missed it. It did cool off well at night and early morning temperatures ranged from 72 to 74. The outdoor shower was great. Although the mosquitos bothered us elsewhere outdoors, they never seemed to find us in the shower, regardless of time of day. Bed and pillows are great. Great utensils, plates, kitchenware, etc. We did use the bug zapper in the bathroom. It would be useful outdoors, but there was no extension cord to use it there. We stayed six nights and our love for the cottage grew during that time despite the heat. We ate most meals there and quickly learned that daytime use of the stove burners could raise the cottage temperature a couple of degrees. We would definitely return on a future visit.
