Estar relajada en una hamaca viendo la belleza de la naturaleza
We stayed at Casa Mafalda in June 2015 for six days. Leonor who was
the travel agent in charge of the house was amazing! She arranged for
all our car transportation, sightseeing through Managua and Granada,
our bus tickets to Costa Rica, and responded to every question we had,
whether it related to the house or not. Overall, it was a wonderful
experience. We loved the country, the people, the unspoiled nature,
and the prices! Very affordable, beautiful landscapes, and authentic
cultural experiences (tourism hasn't affected the people and their
Casa Mafalda is right on the beach which was great for our kids since
they could enjoy some independence and go out without us. Very safe,
very quiet, excellent for families with kids. Julio and Maria were
very helpful in whatever we needed. With some additional cost Maria
cooked for us every day. We just had to buy the groceries in advance
(Pali supermarkets in SJDS and Rivas). Julio took our kids fishing
when our plans to go out fishing were canceled. And when they didn't
catch anything, he went and bought a humungous fish for us to cook
that night (which we paid for, of course). This is just to say how
much the people who take care of the house can go out of their way to
The only problem we had was with mosquitos (although the house has
screens in all bedroom windows). But we had the same problem in Costa
Rica in fully air-conditioned rooms, so I'm not sure this problem is
specific to this house. The downstairs area was nice with an
Another amazing thing about this house and its location was that
during our stay, the rangers of the El Coco Maritimo Park let baby
turtles that had just hatched on the beach to get to the ocean. Our
kids helped take the baby turtles out of the basket, put them on the
sand, and watched them waddle towards the ocean. It was a unique and
possibly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! We recommend this house
without any reservation and with our greatest enthusiasm.
This is a unique house directly in front one of the prettiest beaches in the area. Accommodates 6 people comfortably. The beach is gorgeous and not crowded and has the feel of being private.
Very nice house located directly on the beach. Very relaxing place and well kept. The house is located close enough to San Juan Del Sur should you want to go there, but far enough away to be away from any crowds. Good connections to great local beaches, like surf breaks such as Playa de Yankee. You can also surf right out the front of the property. A nature preserve is located just south of the property, where you can see Olive's Ridley sea turtles (among others), depending on the time of year. We were there during a time in which the turtles were hatching. Ostional is located just 8 km from the house, a nice little town to get fresh fish from fisherman located there. The caretaker was also extremely helpful in helping us during out stay. Nice sea breeze at night and as advertised, howler monkeys to wake you in the morning. A very nice place, ideal for anyone looking to chill out for a bit. Roads were also very good.
