Shelter in Place in Paris
I arrived in Paris to visit my daughter on March 14th and at midnight, Paris went into a major lockdown. So my dreams of a lovely time seeing all the places my daughter loves (she was teaching English in public schools through a government program). Fortunately, I have been to Paris before so this wasn't as devastating as it might have been.
A big plus: if you must be confined inside in Paris, having a view of the Seine and City Hall is not a bad way to do it. The apartment is actually fairly spacious for the location, has lots of windows and thus natural light. And the beds, both the full/queen in the bedroom and the daybed in the living room are VERY comfortable! The location cannot be better -- you are literally in the center of the city and can walk to just about anything. There are markets within an easy walk on both the Left and Right banks, and a good boulangerie right around the corner. I just wish we'd been able to take advantage of everything nearby but would absolutely stay here again.
Note to Americans: the kitchen is wee. It is perfectly useable but tiny. The door lock is cranky and there are techniques to making it work. The gentleman who was our on-site host helped via text (daughter is fully fluent which helps). The bathroom is fine but only a handheld showerhead which didn't fit the holder.
Truly, this apartment is a gem, and I look forward to staying there on a future trip when we can enjoy Paris fully.
