Perfect Stay for a Ski Weekend
We found the house to be a charming and cozy getaway during our ski trip to the Catskills. The house is a short distance from the reservoir and provides the basic comforts after a day on the mountain! Alex was quite helpful, always willing to answer questions, and easy to contact. Would not hesitate to stay there again!
Cozy, Quiet and Relaxing
I really enjoyed staying at this rental. It has everything you need to feel right at home. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is quaint. And you have plenty of room inside, as well as two enclosed porches, which I enjoyed drinking tea on the back porch in the morning watching the sun rise. I am glad this rental is dog friendly. Nice size yard for running around. Alex is very responsive with whatever questions you may have. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
Well equipped comfortable clean
Alex is friendly, helpful, and loves dogs, have a good system for helping guestsclean up after their pets. My only complaint is not with Alex or the property but it’s listed in new Paltz and it’s actually 40 minutes away from your ba my only complaint with Alex with the property but it’s listed in Nw Paltz and it’s actually 40 minutes away. I should have checked the address but the place made up for the inconvenience of extra
Great getaway location at a great rental price.
I was very happy with the location and rental property. Very quiet and peaceful, perfect for 3 or 4 people. The house was equipped with everything we needed, and Alex, the owner, was very helpful and friendly when it came to directions and information. I would definitely recommend communicating with Alex via Vrbos messenger to make sure the location has everything you’re looking for, even though the online description is pretty accurate. Also, it’s asked of all guests to make sure you tidy up the place before you leave, which I don’t think is too much to ask, considering everything you get from renting this spot. I loved my stay here, and would definitely rent this cozy place again. Highly recommended!
Alex was really great and very responsive. No problems with getting in the house. The house isn't particularly nice, but its functional. Forewarning that you do have to clean everything up, including changing the bed sheets. This was okay for us because Alex didn't charge extra for a cleaning fee and let us know a few days ahead of time. Thanks Alex!
I appreciate any and all feedback.I have structured this home to be the least expensive 2 bedroom of all my offerings up there(and of all 2 bedroom houses in the Catskills overall)and want to save my guests the $40+ it would costs for even a local independant cleaning person.I also offer one night stays at this location so am guessing that kind of a charge on top would be significant.Nonetheless I may offer the charge in lieu of prepping on one's for the guests that would rather pay the fee.I did minimal updates on this preserved 30's house but am getting ready to open up the modular house in the back as well which will have more modern features.Much thanks again for your stay and responsiveness
cute home with lots of potential in a great area!
Was a really cute home in a wonderful area! Ashokan Reservoir is beautiful and within walking distance, we visited every night.a few of the falls were less than a half hour away, some more appropriate for families others for more serious hikers ! Home was cozy and private and close to stores and convenience shops, we loved having a kitchen ! We wish it had a place to start a little fire pit at night or some more chairs and lighting near the gazebo... since there was no TV(wifi available though) we were trying to do more outdoorsy stuff at night, but there was really nowhere to do so. Owner is going for the old countrytime vibe, so you’ll be responsible for cleaning and having everything ready for the next guest. The place definitely has a lot of potential and is up and coming. In addition, the owner seems very attentive and readily open to suggestions from new guests and I could easily see this turning into a very popular vacation rental , especially at the great, low price !
As advertised this is a quiet respite from the city at the lowest cost for a renovated 2 bedroom in the prime Catskills. There was nothing advertised in the listing regarding TV or late night outdoor activities on the property yet the abundance of natural features and activities in the area I did carefully list on your house guide. This is a picturesque throwback village that enjoys the peace of old which the vast majority of my guests crave.Regarding leaving the house clean as you found it has nothing to do with vibe or the country but rather again about saving the guests money. My other rentals of the same size charge minimum $40-$50 cleaning fee which would make it cost prohibitive for many of the guests I want to make this available to(especially for just a 1-2 night stay). I do twice weekly cleaning myself when there are no guests and provide ample fresh linens/towels.Should visitors want cleaning and outdoorsy stuff to do at night those guests should stay in pricey KIngston or Woodstock where that vibe can be found.
