This listing came up in my search for handicap-accessible places in the Finger Lakes. Private communications with the owners prior to booking assured me it would be comfortable for my wheelchair-bound friend. It was not. From the road (there is no driveway or parking area near the house), there are several wooden steps, a short walkway, and a step up into the house -- not at all wheelchair-friendly. While there was indeed a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, the bathroom has a tub shower, which is not usable for people with mobility issues. So no showers for 4 days.
The inviting firepit in the yard is accessible only via a steep flight of wooden steps from the house, or down a slippery grassy slope from the road... so this feature was also off limits to us. We tried to salvage the experience by having a fire in the large indoor brick fireplace instead. When we could not locate the fireplace tools, the owners responded promptly, informing us that we were not allowed to have an indoor fire, as the 50-degree nights were not cold enough for that.
The temperature indoors is controlled remotely by the owners. There was one washcloth in the entire house, and the coffee filters did not fit the coffee maker.
The house was clean with gorgeous views, quiet surroundings, and a lovely interior featuring comfortable seating and a spacious kitchen. Nice place, but overall disappointing for our purposes.
