Our family loved the apartment! What a great location, great neighborhood and great value!! Your advice on places to go and using 311 for family transportation was excellent. If we are fortunate enough to visit San Francisco again, we would love to stay at your apartment again! --The Garcia Family

The sunset area of SF is fantastic, safe but you're on the mainline of the streetcar so only 15mins to downtown. The shops and GG park are lovely, lots of variation from grungy diners to artsy coffee houses to some awesome ethnic restaurants- Milanos best Italian. Go to Roxie's grocery store for funky products.
Direct bus routes too to the science centre (amazing) and 15mins by bus/train to the zoo.
As per the other reviews you are in the main floor suite of the house. You share an entrance with the owner's family but we found this wasn't an issue, we came and went with no problems and pretty well felt we had lots of privacy even though you walked by the foyer to reach the kitchen and bathroom. The fold-out couch was fine for the kids but agree that its not for most adults as the matress is old. Awesome kitchen, all mod cons, the computer with internet access is a great bonus. Bathroom nice, private, cosy ie not a lot of counter space. Two TVs in the bedroom area, the bigger one with the DVD player is older and has some picture tube problems but the new flatscreen in the bedroom is fine. As per other reviews there is some noise from upstairs and downstairs suites, so if you're extremely sensitive to noise I'd be wary but we're good sleepers so it was only of interest. We'll definitely rent again when we go back to SF.

Thank you for a wonderful week in San Francisco. Our accommodations were lovelier than the photos could show. The "Guest Castle" is located in close walking distance to the Golden Gate Park and many family owned restaurants, markets and shops. It is also close to a muni line. We highly recommend this treasure.

This place was close to everything we needed: grocery stores, restaurants, bus, train, and the Golden Gate Park. There was an excellent kitchen and nice shower. The house has beautiful woodwork and antique furniture, very nice. We didn't have a car in San Francisco and were on a budget. We found this place perfect for our needs. It was stocked with the necessities for cooking and the owner gave great directions and ideas for groceries and restaurants. We really enjoyed having the computer at our disposal as we could plan our bus routes online. This is a good place for a short stay in San Francisco.

We found Michael's apartment to be extremely comfortable, with a large sitting room, big bedroom, a kitchen come dining area and a bathroom with both shower and bath. The kitchen has the very latest in appliances, including a Bosch oven and a large fridge/ freezer as well as microwave. There is a washing machine and a dryer in the basement. A DVD player, CD player, and a computer with an internet connection. Bliss.
the apartment is located on the first floor of Michael's home and the house is located on 11th avenue north of Kirkham ( from the N Judah line get off on 9th Avenue and Judah and walk up a block and a half and over two blocks.)
You can take the N Judah into town down Market Street. Also heading down into Market Street is the No 6 trolley bus with a stop on 9th between Judah and Irving. So that is another way to get in and out of town.
The best local supermarket is Andronico's which is on Irving and Funston ( ie 13th Avenue) Just walk down Irving and you'll find it.
There is a Donut World on Judah and 9th if you have a weakness for such things. Open 24 hours a day.
Remember that Muni offer a 7 day pass on buses, streetcar, trolley car and cable car for $24 for seven days. A wonderful bargain.
What not to miss? The Asian Art Museum on UN plaza and the Bay cruise out under the Golden Gate Bridge. Coit Tower, the sea lions at Pier 39, the De Young Museum in Golden Gate Park and the art work in the Legion of Honour building in Lincoln Park.
Michael, all you need to improve cooking conditions is a large baking tray, large fry pan, some wooden spoons for stirring, some more cutlery ( no large spoons) some cling film and foil, and some basic stuff like flour, spices, and a pepper mill. Then the kitchen would be perfect. It's still pretty brilliant, as it is.
Re sleeping; the noise from upstairs can be a problem at times. That aside, we had a great stay.

We stayed there for 5 days and was very happy with it. Nice, nice and clean rooms. Great kitchen and nice, little garden. Easy to find parking and Michael was so kind.

The accomodations were exactly as pictured in the listing. The house has beautiful original wood floors and paneling. The modern kitchen has been well-equipped with new granite countertops, attractive lighting, and quality appliances. The computer access to the Internet was helpful and greatly appreciated. The small rear deck was peaceful and overlooked a lovely well-maintained garden with a water feature.

Our objective in coming to San Francisco was to find a rental within walking distance of UCSF where our son was to have a kidney transplant. The hospital, approximately eight blocks away was a pleasant and not too difficult walk.

Michael was a compassionate and caring host. He and his extended family live upstairs, so he was readily available to answer questions and provide information if needed. In addition to the maps and restaurant menus collected and available for tenant use, Michael personally provided directions to a nearby markets and restaurants within walking distance.

The parking permit was invaluable, and we did not need to move our car during our three night stay.

Thank you Michael! We had a great stay. Very comfortable and excellent central location to GG Park and the Museums, Haight Street, Ocean Beach and all the restaurants from Cole Valley to Richmond. Beautiful Garden and back deck to wind down after a busy day.
