The property represents an excellent value for money. Located on the North Finger of Jolly Harbour, the villa is pretty comfortable with air conditioning and lots of room, with amenities like tv and hot water. It could do with a few small improvements (internet) and it's important to keep in mind that you'll probably need a car or golf cart to get to the main shopping area, but other than that it's a great deal!
My friend and I arrived to Antigua on a Friday afternoon. We were greeted by Steve at the airport where he gave us the keys, and some additional information about the villa. During our stay at Jolly Harbour, we encountered some problems such as clogged shower drain, Internet not working, and mice droppings. Steve was very responsive to our complaints, and worked hard to rectify all the problems we encountered.
As note for improvement, I think it is the responsibility of owner/manager to ensure that their property is in a suitable condition for expected paying guests. Of all the issues, the most devastating was the mice droppings. We did not feel comfortable using any of the utensils, kitchen towels, and bath towels for this reason.
Otherwise, the price was definitely within our budget and the location allowed us to conveniently shop at the local supermarket, run to the beach, participate in activities such a cruise, horseback riding, etc.
Best value for your buck. If all the issues were to be resolved, your stay in Jolly Harbour will we great!!!!
Not a bad place to stay. Does the job. Steeve was really nice, once we managed to meet him. Unfortunately, there is no service. The air conditioning never worked in the 2nd bedroom upstairs. The sofa bed, is not a sofa bed. Just a sofa. The phone just doesn't work. It wasn't the service. It worked everywhere else, except in our villa. Forget about internet! The only place is at the StarFish cafe: Excellent place! The owner is awesome, helpful & very accommodating (forgot his name, sorry!). Or at the restaurants, when you eat you can go on the net. Steeve did find us a car rental for a good price. But, he never came back to the villa like he said he would. Was supposed to bring us a bed (our friend spent 2 weeks on the sofa - very uncomfortable) and another phone: he never did. Was also supposed to meet us at the airport, but came at the wrong time. Never said goodbye either. My husband is a wonderful handyman : he fixed the hot water tank. The place is nice, but when we arrived, it was like the place had been abandoned. It wasn't very clean. We did a lot of cleaning when we arrived. Wasn't very enthusiast about that... And money is a problem over there. If there is a holiday, it will probably be overextended, and there is usually no money in the ATM's. They also have a problem with credit cards. And you always need an identity card for buying at the store: especially in Jolly Harbour. There is also no washing machine in the villa and it cost really expensive to do the washing. There is no self-serving laundromat. You have to give your clothes to them; and give some tip! Rent a car and drive around the island to get food. Jolly Harbour is quite expensive; it's more touristic. You'll find most of what you need if you up in town in St-John's. The people all around the island who work there are very nice and helpful. Don't talk to Donald Duck! He wants money and follows you around for more! We still enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anybody who isn't too fussy and is looking for a cheap place to stay.
